DJM Engineering And Consultancy Limited

David Mattick manages DJMEC from his home in north Somerset with the aim of providing a consultancy service in the areas of ship electrical power and propulsion, in particular for warships.

David served as an officer in the Royal Navy and was a nuclear submarine engineer officer during the cold war and South Atlantic activities. As well as operational time in submarines he gained practical experience of both ship and submarine design and support. His experience spans concept, detailed design, manufacture, commissioning and in service support, including design authority responsibilities and activities.

On leaving the service he moved to the marine electrical power and propulsion sector supplying electrical power and propulsion systems to both military and commercial customers.

He has a wealth of experience of operating, maintaining and supporting multi-megawatt electro-mechanical power and propulsion systems supplied by a variety of prime movers and power sources and includes managing a site realistically testing electrical power and propulsion systems.

David has extensive safety experience having been immersed in the ship, radiation and nuclear safety environments during his time associated with submarines and with high voltage safety during his time testing electrical power and propulsion systems.

He has set up DJMEC so that he can offer his hard won experience to assist suppliers and customers involved in the marine electrical power and propulsion sectors.
